Understanding Good Health Means Knowing What to Eat

Health News

Maintaining good health means that you have to be constantly motivated to make sure that your body is functioning well. Good health also means that you have to give yourself the best so that you are able to contribute to the society and to the environment. Good health requires that you keep fit and you have to eat healthily. People who are healthy usually feel happy and they live longer. People who are healthy have more energy and they are less likely to get sick.

Good health is all about balancing. This does not only mean in diet and food choices but also in other aspects of your life. Balance is important in everything that we do because if we do not balance then we will soon find our lives out of balance and that could be very dangerous. For example, if you do not exercise regularly then there would be many imbalances in your body such as hormonal imbalance or chronic pain. By paying attention to what you are putting into your body and making the right food choices then you can achieve good health.

Maintaining good health means that you have to make the right food choices because some food choices are good for us but not for others. Balance is important in choosing good health foods and bad health foods and sometimes it is a matter of personal choice. Some people prefer to eat junk food, which is full of preservatives and hormones whereas others like to eat healthy food choices and are able to keep their body fit.

For example, taking on an exercise program and eating healthy food will help to achieve good health. It will also help to reduce your risk of getting heart disease or cancer or other diseases. Regular exercise is an important part of good health. Regular exercise also has other benefits such as reducing stress and improving mood and self-esteem and even helps to promote good sleep.

Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University’s Department of psychiatry, says good diet is vital. He says, “Good diet is important for weight control and maintenance of diabetes.” The good news is, it does not need to be complicated. Katz says, “If all dietitians were allowed to devise their own diets, there would be an explosion of low-carb, low-fat, low-calorie products.” However, he adds, “The typical American diet does not meet the dietary needs of most Americans.”

Good health does not mean you have to deprive yourself of anything. In fact, you should eat things such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and nuts and fish. Even lean meats should be included as long as they are low in saturated fat and cholesterol. To maintain good health, it means you have to pay attention to your nutrition because good health is not a gift; rather it is something that is earned.
